FIFA has withheld a final decision on the leadership crisis in the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, as it continues to review the circumstances surrounding the recent mass resignation of officials.
NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi and members of the Executive Committee recently resigned from their positions following concerns over the performance of Nigeria’s national teams.
Following the development, Acting NFF General Secretary Emmanuel Ikpeme, officials of the National Sports Commission and representatives of the Confederation of African Football travelled to FIFA headquarters in Zurich for discussions.
In a letter dated September 7 and signed by FIFA’s Chief Member Associations Officer, Elkhan Mammadov, the world football governing body confirmed that no final decision had been taken.
FIFA says it is still assessing the situation and the circumstances surrounding the resignations before determining the appropriate next steps.
