The Nigerian Navy has uncovered a dugout reservoir containing about 10,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil in Oteghele, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Operatives of the Nigerian Navy Ship Delta discovered the reservoir during an intelligence-led anti-crude oil theft operation in the area.
According to the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the reservoir and its contents were handled in accordance with established procedures.
The Navy says the operation prevented the suspected stolen crude from being used for further illegal activities.
It says the operation forms part of sustained efforts to deny criminal operators access to crude oil and infrastructure used for illegal exploitation.

The Navy adds that the operation is in line with the directive of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, to protect critical national infrastructure within Nigeria’s territorial waters.
