Netflix has renewed its crime drama Nemesis for a second season after the series enjoyed strong global viewership following its debut in May.
The streaming platform announced the renewal after the show spent five consecutive weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10 English-language TV rankings, reaching the number one position during its second week.
Co-creator and executive producer, Tani Marole, said the new season will build on the first while providing answers to unresolved storylines.
Marole also promised a bigger and better second season, saying fans can expect new developments alongside answers to lingering questions.
The series stars Matthew Law, Y’lan Noel, Cleopatra Coleman, Tre Hale, Domenick Lombardozzi, Jonnie Park, Ariana Guerra, Gabrielle Dennis, Michael Potts, Sophina Brown, Cedric Joe and Jeff Pierre, with several guest appearances featured in the first season.
Showrunner, creator and executive producer Courtney A. Kemp credited the renewal to the show’s audience, thanking fans for their support and strong response on social media.
According to Netflix, Nemesis follows the rivalry between a skilled criminal and a determined police detective, exploring themes of crime, family, marriage and personal identity.
Netflix Vice President of Studio Scripted Series, UCAN, Nne Ebong, described the series as a global success, praising its creators and expressing excitement about continuing the story in a second season.
