The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed Saturday, June 13, 2026, for the conduct of the mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for candidates who were unable to sit for the examination despite completing biometric verification.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.
According to JAMB, the mop-up examination is specifically for candidates who presented themselves for the 2026 UTME but could not take the examination due to technical issues and other related challenges experienced during the exercise.
The board explained that the 2026 UTME was conducted between April 23 and April 29, but some examination centres encountered technical problems that prevented several candidates from participating fully.
JAMB also disclosed that some results were withdrawn due to examination infractions, while certain candidates could not complete biometric verification during the exercise.
The board stated that all affected candidates have been captured for the mop-up examination, describing it as the final phase of the 2026 UTME process.
Candidates affected by the development have been advised to begin printing their examination notification slips from June 6, 2026, and familiarise themselves with their assigned centres ahead of the examination date.
JAMB further stressed that there would be no additional opportunity for candidates to sit the 2026 UTME after the mop-up exercise.
More than two million candidates participated in the nationwide examination earlier this year, with the board already releasing results and retaining the minimum admission cut-off marks at 150 for universities and 100 for polytechnics.
