10 Confirmed Dead, 1 Injured in Jigawa Road Crash

No fewer than 10 persons have been confirmed dead in Jigawa State after a Toyota Hummer bus collided with a trailer along the Kano-Hadejia Road near Yanfari village, Taura Local Government Area.

The crash, which occurred Monday around 9:30 p.m., claimed the lives of ten people, including the driver, while one passenger survived with injuries.

According to the Jigawa State Police Command, the bus, driven by 35-year-old Sani Mainasara from Hadejia LGA, was traveling from Kano to Hadejia when it hit a parked trailer, causing the vehicle to overturn.

The victims were confirmed dead at Hadejia General Hospital.

Police spokesperson, Lawan Adam, revealed that the lone survivor is currently receiving treatment at Majia Primary Health Care Centre and is reported to be in stable condition.

An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident, with authorities vowing to hold any negligent parties accountable.

The police extended condolences to the victims’ families and urged road users to exercise greater caution to prevent such incidents in the future.
