A woman, Lucy Tapnang Jeremiah, age 29 has battled some kidnappers and freed three captives abducted along with her in Plateau State.
Lucy’s attempt to snatch an AK47 rifle from one of the kidnappers, caused her bodily harm from a knife attack but her bravery thwarted the plans of the kidnappers.
Lucy, who resides in Abuja, embarked on a journey with seven other passengers to Mangu council of Plateau State for a wedding when the kidnappers stopped their vehicle.
According to her, the trauma started as they approached Science School, Kuru. The hoodlums ordered the car to stop and asked them to surrender their phones and other valuables.
The armed men took four of them into the forest abandoning others at the scene.
Encouraging others to launch an attack on their abductors, Lucy asked them to sum up courage to the task as they feared to attack saying it was a death sentence.
Lucy made the move, attempting to disarm one of the kidnappers with an AK 47 rifle which led to the knife wound she sustained on her leg.
Confirming the incident, Police spokesman, Alfred Alabo said upon receiving the report of the attack, the command immediately put out coordinated measures across the state to rescue the victims unhurt as well as apprehend the suspects.
Alabo also said while the police were on their way to the scene, the act of bravery from Lucy led to the escape of the abductees from the kidnappers den prior to their rescue by the Police.
Lucy and the others were later taken to a police clinic for treatment, while the hunt for the kidnappers went on.
