The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the results for the 2024 Second Series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates. Out of 65,023 participants, 43,923 candidates achieved credits and above in at least five subjects.
Notably, over 34,000 candidates secured credits in five subjects, including English and Mathematics, marking a 9.35% improvement compared to previous years. The examination was conducted across more than 5,000 centers and featured both paper-based and computer-based formats.
However, WAEC disclosed that the results of 2,577 candidates have been withheld due to allegations of examination malpractice. The Council reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process and ensuring fairness for all candidates.
The release of the results highlights the continued efforts to improve educational standards and outcomes in the region.
