US Troops to Depart Niger Mid-September, the Pentagon says

The United States have commenced troops withdrawal from the Niger Republic after an agreement to take American troops of the country no later than September 15th.

In a joint statement, the two countries said they had reached a disengagement agreement to effect the withdrawal of U.S. Forces.

The statement commended the joint sacrifices of Nigerien and U.S. Forces in the fight against terrorism”, adding that the withdrawal would not affect the continuation of US-Niger Relations.

The deal was reached after talks between the two countries in Niamey.
