Three people lost their lives in a tragic accident on Monday when a truck reportedly experienced brake failure and crashed into Ayetoro Market in Lagos.
According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), which disclosed the incident on its official X handle, the truck was descending from Ita-Opo when it lost its brakes.
The out-of-control vehicle first collided with a commercial tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry before ramming into the bustling market.
The statement read: “A fatal accident occurred due to a brake failure of a truck descending from Ita-Opo. It hit a commercial tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry before ramming into the Ayetoro Market/Complex. Three lives were lost, and the bodies have been taken to the morgue at Epe General Hospital.”
LASTMA officials swiftly diverted traffic to ease congestion, while a tow truck was deployed to clear the wreckage from the scene.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, especially when navigating steep roads, to prevent such tragic incidents.
