Tripartite Committee Advances Talks on New Minimum Wage for Workers

The Tripartite Committee on Minimum Wage, consisting of Representatives from the Federal Government, Labour, and the Private Sector, has held another round of discussions on a new minimum wage for workers.

The Committee reconvened at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja, where the Federal Government was represented by the Minister of Finance, Mr Wale Edun, Minister of Budget and National Planning, Mr Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Labour, Mrs. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.

It would be recalled that in a bid to move the negotiation forward, Labour, on Tuesday announced the suspension of its industrial action for five days after President Bola Tinubu agreed to pay a new minimum wage higher than N60,000.

Meanwhile, the Tripartite Committee has pledged its readiness to convene daily until a new minimum wage is agreed upon.
