In Stella Oduah’s alleged forgery case, the court orders a probe into the prosecutor.

Date:

The Prosecution Counsel, Ibrahim Mohammed, who filed an eight-count complaint against Senator Stella Oduah, has been the subject of an investigation, according to Justice James Omotoso of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The court wants to know how the police are handling the charge sheet that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) submitted in June.
When the case was called, the attorney, Mohammed, announced his presence on behalf of the Nigerian Police Force. This is when the controversy started.
The Investigating Police Officer (IPO) claimed Stella Oduah could not be served because she was ill, therefore he informed the court that she was not present.
The prosecutor confirmed the judge’s subsequent question concerning who wrote the charge.
He confirmed that he was a police officer when asked a second time. He said that despite being deployed back to the Police Force in November 2022, he had been seconded to the EFCC.
He continued by saying that he started working again at the Police Headquarters’ legal division in January 2023.
The court further questioned why the police were prosecuting the case while the EFCC had filed the charge in June 2023.
The court questioned whether a rational person would accept his justifications. He continued by saying that the prosecution attorney would be brought before the anti-graft organization to defend himself.
He then demanded that the council be looked into.
Justice Omotoso directed the EFCC to look into the Prosecution Counsel and revert in a concise ruling.
