Nigeria’s Super Falcons wrapped up their preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a commanding 3–1 win over arch-rivals Ghana in a friendly encounter held in Morocco.
The nine-time African champions dominated proceedings from the outset. Chiwendu Ihezuo opened the scoring in the 34th minute, before Asisat Oshoala calmly slotted home a penalty in the 44th minute to double the lead — marking her first goal for Nigeria since October 31, 2023.
Team captain Rasheedat Ajibade added a third in the 55th minute with a well-placed finish. Ghana’s Alice Kusi pulled one back late in the game for the Black Queens, but it proved only a consolation.
The Super Falcons now shift focus to their Group B campaign at WAFCON 2024, starting with a clash against Tunisia on Sunday, 6th July in Casablanca. They will also face Botswana and Algeria in the group stage.
