Senate has directed its Committees on Petroleum Upstream, Downstream, Gas, Niger Delta Affairs, Health, and Environment to investigate the circumstances surrounding the recent gas pipeline explosion in Bayelsa State.
Senator Benson Konbowei, who moved the Motion, stated that the explosions caused widespread panic among residents of the affected community.
Other Lawmakers while contributing to the Debate, called for urgent measures to prevent recurrence and to provide for the health of the people.
President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, described the explosion and consequent inferno and pollution of the environment as a very worrisome situation.
The Red Chamber urged the federal government to provide succour to victims.
