The Nigerian Senate has resumed Plenary after six weeks of Recess in the newly Renovated Hallowed Chamber.
President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio in his opening address, admonished Senators to set aside their differences and work together to achieve good governance in the interest of the Nation.

Shortly after the regular announcements by the President of the Senate, Senators deliberated over sitting arrangement.
Three Senators, Senator Danjuma Goje, a four-time ranking Senator representing Gombe Central, and Senator Sahabi Yau, a Senator representing Zamfara North deliberated on the issue.
They expressed displeasure over the back seats assigned to them and complained to the Majority Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele.

According to the standing rules of the Upper Legislative Chamber, Senators sit according to ranking but the arrangement the aggrieved Senators met fell short of their expectations.
The President of the Senate doused tension after a slightly prolonged verbal engagement with Senators Bamidele, Yau, and Goje at the center, calling on the aggrieved Senators to approach the Chair to diffuse the anger.
The Senate adjourned the Plenary sitting to Tuesday, 7th of May, 2024.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has declared today Wednesday, May 1st, a Public Holiday to mark this Year’s Workers’ Day event.
Nigeria’s Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-ojo made the declaration, according to the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Aishetu Ndayako.
