Senate Approves N98.5 billion For More Development Projects in FCT

Date:

Senate has passed the 2024 Supplementary Bill of N98.5 billion for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration.

The Budget approval followed consideration of a report by the Committee on FCT.

The Report was laid and presented by the Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on FCT, Senator Osita Ngwu who justified the 2024 FCT Supplementary Bill saying funds would be needed for the development of more infrastructure in the federal capital.

Before consideration of the report, Senator representing Federal Capital Territory, Senator Ireti Kingibe had raised a point of order to officially lay a complaint.

Her point of order was noted by President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio who further advised her to, in accordance with the rules, communicate her complaints and present it before the Senate via a Motion in Plenary.

The Committee report, which was approved without opposition from Lawmakers subsequently, passed for a third reading when it was put to a vote by the President of the Senate.

The N98.5 billion approved by Senate is in addition to N1.2 trillion budget passed in March by the National Assembly.
