Sen. Bwacha Urges Gov. Kefas to Deliver Tangible Results Before 2027, Hints at Re-election Bid

Date:

JALINGO — Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, the 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State, has advised Governor Agbu Kefas to make the most of the remaining two years in his first term to meet the expectations of Tarabans and leave a lasting legacy.

Speaking to journalists in Jalingo, Bwacha, who currently serves as Board Chairman of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Delta State, acknowledged the need for prayers and support for political leaders, but stressed that governance demands visible impact and signature achievements.

“Kefas still has the opportunity, if he is serious, to change the tide in two years,” he said. “The time is still there for him to improve and restore his image from the present banters he’s receiving.”

While commending the remodelling of the Jalingo Airport, which he described as impressive, the former Senate Minority Leader challenged Governor Kefas to initiate hallmark projects that would define his administration.

“We want to see personal projects initiated by him—projects that will be remembered in his name,” Bwacha said. “As bad as former Governor Darius Ishaku was perceived, he initiated a flyover project that took eight years. Some governors now do such in six months.”

Reflecting on his political future, Bwacha revealed that he may re-enter the 2027 governorship race if Tarabans remain dissatisfied with the current administration.

“My first declaration after losing the 2023 election was that if I contest again, it would only be because the people are still crying,” he said. “If they are happy, I have no reason to run again. I will join the governor to celebrate and clap for him. But if we are still in Egypt, I will ensure that we come out of Goshen and leave Egypt.”

He also addressed past criticisms of his support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general elections, noting that some detractors have since apologized. Expressing optimism, Bwacha said he believes the current federal reforms under Tinubu’s administration will yield results in due course.

“I can tell you confidently that President Tinubu will not face a serious challenger in 2027,” he declared.
