Referee Wilfred Charway Suspended Over Controversial Penalty Decision in NNL Match

Date:

The Refereeing Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has suspended referee Wilfred Charway from officiating in Nigeria National League (NNL) matches. The decision comes after Charway’s controversial handling of the February 15th match between Solution FC and Godswill Akpabio United FC in Awka.

The committee found that Charway awarded an unjustified penalty during the match, which violated the Laws of the Game. The NFF stated that his actions not only unfairly influenced the outcome of the match but also undermined the integrity of the sport.

The suspension serves as a reminder of the NFF’s commitment to upholding fairness and transparency in Nigerian football. Further investigations into the incident are expected to ensure accountability and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
