Police Rescue Kidnapped Victim, Neutralize One Suspect in Akwa Ibom

A 63-year-old retired Shell Petroleum Company Worker, abducted and held hostage by men of the underworld has been rescued by the Nigerian Police in Akwa Ibom State.

The Police also neutralized one of the suspected kidnappers, following a gun duel between the rescue team and the hoodlums.

Police Public Relations Officer in Akwa Ibom State Command, ASP Timfon John, in a statement in Uyo on Monday, confirmed that the victim was rescued unhurt in a compound located at Ikot Udobong Village in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of the State.

ASP Timfon John, who revealed that the kidnappers had initially demanded N50million ransom and later agreed to N20 million, reaffirms the commitment of the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Waheed Ayilara to rid the State of Crime and criminal elements.
