Security operatives in Katsina State have rescued 11 kidnapped victims—comprising nine females and two males—after foiling a kidnap attempt along the Danmusa to Mara Dangeza village road in Danmusa Local Government Area.
According to a statement released Monday by the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the successful operation was part of a broader effort to combat kidnapping and banditry in the state.
The incident occurred on the night of June 8, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., when a combined security team on patrol—including the Police, Military, Department of State Services (DSS), Operation Sharan Daji operatives, Katsina State Community Watch Corps, and local vigilantes—intercepted a group of armed bandits attempting to flee with kidnapped victims.
A gunfight ensued, and the operatives overpowered the bandits with superior tactics and firepower, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee the scene. All 11 victims were rescued unharmed.
While investigations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects, Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, praised the operatives for their bravery and assured the public of the command’s continued commitment to eradicating kidnapping in the region.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity promptly to law enforcement authorities or via the command’s emergency lines to bolster ongoing security efforts.
