The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, Baba Mohammed Azare, has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling defamation and cybercrime across the state.
CP Azare made this known while speaking on ADBN TV’s Niger Delta Today programme.
He stressed that the command will not tolerate the misuse of digital platforms to spread false information, defame individuals or commit cyber-related offences.
The Police Commissioner noted that such acts pose a threat to public peace and security, warning that offenders will be investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He also urged residents to use social media responsibly and verify information before sharing it, emphasising that responsible online conduct is essential to maintaining law and order.
CP Azare reaffirmed the commitment of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command to protecting lives and property while ensuring that justice is served in all cases involving cybercrime and defamation.
