Police Nab Suspect For Abducting, Impregnating Victim In Yobe

Yobe State Police Command has apprehended one Auwalu Haruna for the alleged abduction of a 20-year-old woman, and the allegedly putting her in family way.

Spokesman of the Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim in a statement revealed, that a total of 34 cases of gender-based violence and related crimes were recorded in the last six months, with 85 percent having undergone trials convicted.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to be vigilant about the relationships their wards have with adults, as perpetrators are often close relatives, neighbours, or acquaintances.

CP Ahmed further called on stakeholders to join forces in combating Gender Based Violence, which has far-reaching consequences for the well-being and development of the girl child and society at large.
