Police Launch Investigation into Missing Body Parts After Suspected Ritualists Kill Young Lady in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command said it had commenced an investigation to unravel those behind the dumping of a dead human body in the Uyo metropolis.

According to reports, residents of Ekpri Nsukara in the Uyo metropolis woke up on Monday morning to the sight of the gory body of a lady cut from the trunk and dumped near the gate of Boys Primary School, Anua, Uyo, the state capital.

The body which was reportedly cut from the trunk with the body and head taken away, leaving only the legs, was discovered tucked in a ‘Ghana – Must–Go’ bag by her killers.

A resident of the area and student of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Emmanuel Ekong, who spoke to journalists, said the dead body was found in the early morning of Monday.

“We woke up this early Monday morning to discover a trunk of a young lady inside a ‘Ghana – Must – Go’ bag, chopped off from the waist and the other parts of the body from the waist to the head taken away by her killers. So, we can’t identify whether she’s our fellow students, maybe later,” Ekong noted.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, who confirmed the incident, said the Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi, had ordered a discreet investigation into the incident.

He said, “We have received that report, it’s just an unfortunate act, a dastardly one at that. Unfortunately, some people have no value for life. They can resort to barbaric acts at any given time.
