The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, and his Egyptian counterpart, Lieutenant General Mahmoud Foaad Abd El-Gawad, have committed to strengthening cooperation between their air forces, with a focus on pilot training and research and development.
This commitment was made during Air Marshal Abubakar’s visit to General El-Gawad’s office in Cairo, Egypt.
According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, both leaders emphasized the long-standing history of training collaboration between the two air forces, agreeing that this relationship should be further enhanced.
They also discussed potential areas for collaboration in research and development, specifically related to the Nigerian Air Force’s Alpha Jets. It was agreed that the Egyptian Air Force would send a delegation to Nigeria to assess the Alpha Jets and work with Nigerian Air Force engineers to overhaul the aircraft.
The delegation will also evaluate the feasibility of conducting in-house tactical training for Nigerian Air Force pilots to improve their skills and overall proficiency.
