Moscow hosted the Taliban for talks in the Russian capital, seeking to assert its influence in the region and push for action against Islamic State fighters, which it says have massed in perennially volatile Afghanistan.

Representatives of 10 countries including China and Iran agreed in a statement after the talks to continue to promote security in Afghanistan to contribute to regional stability.

On domestic policy, they called on them to respect the rights of ethnic groups, women and children.

The United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Rwanda, Omar Daair has urged the young environmental industry players to join the climate change battle, helping them to secure a bright future for themselves and their generations.

He said this during a networking event that brought together young innovators, businesspeople, and activists in different domains of the environmental sector.

The event was preparing this year’s United Nations Climate Change Conference also known as COP 26 scheduled in London next month.

The Para-soccer Federation of Nigeria has postponed the 9th edition of the World Polio Day National Para-soccer championships due to a lack of funds.

The federation president, Misbahu Didi, on Tuesday, in Abuja, said that the national championship had been postponed indefinitely for this year because of insufficient funds.

Didi, who noted that the only sponsor of the national championship quit this year, added that the Federation had earlier sent a letter to all state directors notifying them of the postponement.

In the meantime, he disclosed that the Federation was, however, preparing for another competition, whose dates would be announced soon.

The 9th edition of the National Para-soccer tournament was earlier scheduled to begin on Oct.19 to Oct. 24, in Abuja.
