Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has reduced the curfew in Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun communities from 17 hours to 12 hours daily following improved security in the areas. The decision, announced by Commissioner for Information Kolapo Alimi, comes as relative peace returns after weeks of violent land disputes between the neighboring towns.
Governor Adeleke commended traditional rulers and residents for maintaining calm while urging the 100-member peace committee to accelerate efforts toward a permanent resolution. “As Chief Security Officer, I reaffirm my commitment to ending these clashes through all legitimate means,” Adeleke stated. The adjusted curfew will allow students to sit for WAEC, NECO, and JAMB examinations without disruption.
Security forces – including the Army, Police, and Civil Defence – will maintain 24-hour surveillance, with the governor warning that instigators of fresh violence will face legal consequences. The administration continues pushing for a comprehensive solution to the longstanding territorial disputes through the special committee established months ago.
