Organized Labour Gives Federal Government Seven-Day Ultimatum to Reverse Electricity Tariff Increase

Date:

The Organized Labour under the aegis of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have sent a protest letter to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission over the recent tariff in hike.

The NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, and the TUC President, Comrade Festus Osifo in a joint letter stated that the tariff hike not only defies the established procedure mandated by law but also tramples upon the rights of Nigerian citizens.

The Unions, while appealing to the electricity body to reverse its decision, noted the action undertaken by the commission will plunge Nigerians into untold hardship.

The two Unions gave until Sunday, the 12th day of May 2024, to comply, stating failure to do so will result in swift and decisive action on their part.
