Nigeria’s Flamingos dominated Liberia four-one in a fast-paced FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup Final qualifying round, first leg encounter in Monrovia on Sunday.
The game kicked off with enthusiasm at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville as Shakirat Moshood broke the deadlock with a stunning solo goal in the 19th minute.
Maintaining their momentum, Peace Effiong doubled the lead in the 29th minute, followed by Harmony Chidi’s 11th goal of the qualifying series in the 36th minute, securing a commanding three-zero advantage by halftime.
Despite Liberia finding the net with a penalty in the dying moments, courtesy of Yassah Gwaikolo, it was substitute Blessing Ifitezue who sealed victory for Nigeria with a fourth goal, leaving the home team trailing.
