
Nigerian footballer Abubakar Lawal, who tragically passed away in Uganda last month, has been laid to rest in his hometown of Sokoto. The burial took place on Monday, with family, friends, and members of the football community gathering to pay their final respects.
Lawal’s Ugandan club, Vipers SC, confirmed the burial and paid a heartfelt tribute to the late footballer, honoring his significant contributions to the club both on and off the pitch. The club expressed gratitude for the overwhelming show of respect during his send-off, highlighting Lawal’s character, dedication, and impact on the sport.

In a gesture of support, Vipers SC announced that Lawal’s salary will continue to be paid to his family for the next six months.
Lawal’s untimely death occurred after a fall from a shopping mall in Kampala, the Ugandan capital, where he had gone to visit a Tanzanian friend. He was rushed to the hospital but was sadly pronounced dead.
