Pascal Gabriel Dozie, the visionary founder of Diamond Bank and former chairman of MTN Nigeria, has died at age 85. Family sources confirm the renowned entrepreneur passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, April 8, 2025, following complications from age-related illness – just one day before his 86th birthday.

Dozie leaves behind an indelible legacy in Nigeria’s financial sector, having established Diamond Bank as one of the nation’s most innovative financial institutions before its landmark merger with Access Bank. The business luminary later served as chairman of MTN Nigeria, cementing his status as a titan of African commerce.

The pioneering banker demonstrated remarkable foresight in grooming the next generation of leaders, eventually handing Diamond Bank’s reins to his son Uzoma Dozie. His passing marks the end of an era for Nigeria’s corporate landscape.
