Niger Delta Leaders Demand Release Of N2trn Outstanding Funds To NDDC

Stakeholders from the Niger Delta Region have called on the federal government to clear all outstanding funds due the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to enable the Commission fully fulfill its mandate.

National Chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Senator Emmanuel Essien, who gave the charge while delivering a Goodwill Message at the Pre-Summit Technical Session at the ongoing Niger Delta Stakeholders Summit 2024 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Wednesday, maintained that the Commission cannot fully implement its master-plan if not well funded.

Chairman of the Governing Board of the NDDC, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, in his welcome address, charged leaders and key stakeholders from various sectors and Ethnic Nationalities to collaborate for the development of the Niger Delta Region.

Also speaking, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku said the Commission is open to private and public partnerships that would guarantee speedy infrastructure and human capital development to the people of the region.
