The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Nentawe Yilwatda, has been elected as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Yilwatda’s emergence followed his nomination by the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma. The motion was seconded by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen.
The nomination was adopted through a voice vote by members of the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) during their meeting in Abuja on Thursday.
Yilwatda succeeds in taking the party’s reins at a critical time, as internal consolidation and strategic planning for the 2027 general elections intensify.
