The National Sports Commission has congratulated Nigerian table tennis stars Aruna Quadri and Fatima Bello for securing their spots at the 2025 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Cup in China. Quadri, a seasoned player, finished as the runner-up in the men’s singles event after a thrilling 4-3 loss to Egypt’s Omar Assar, narrowly missing out on his sixth title. On the women’s side, Fatima Bello put up a strong fight but was defeated 4-1 by Egypt’s Hana Goda in her semifinal match.

“Aruna Quadri and Fatima Bello have once again demonstrated Nigeria’s prowess on the global stage. Their qualification for the ITTF World Cup is a testament to their hard work and the support of our sporting institutions,” the Commission stated.

The athletes’ achievements have further solidified Nigeria’s reputation as a powerhouse in African table tennis and have inspired hope for a strong performance at the 2025 ITTF World Cup.
