The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Right Honourable Tajudeen Abass, has commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for its efforts in advancing football infrastructure in the country. The Speaker made the remarks during the official launch of the NFF-FIFA Players’ Hostel and new training pitches at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
Honourable Abass described the project as a commendable initiative and assured that the National Assembly would provide full support to ensure its successful completion. He emphasized the importance of such infrastructure in nurturing talent and improving the performance of Nigeria’s national teams.
The FIFA delegation, led by Gelson Fernandes, reaffirmed FIFA’s commitment to infrastructure development as a key part of its vision under President Gianni Infantino. Fernandes highlighted the global football body’s dedication to supporting member associations in building facilities that promote the growth of the sport.
NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, expressed his gratitude for the support from both the National Assembly and FIFA. He noted that the new facilities would cater to all national teams, providing them with world-class accommodations and training grounds. Gusau emphasized that the project marks a significant step forward in enhancing Nigeria’s football infrastructure and creating an enabling environment for players to thrive.
