NASARAWA STATE SETS UP MINIMUM WAGE COMMITTEE, IMPLEMENTS LOCAL GOVERNMENT REFORMS

Date:

Nasarawa State Executive Council has approved the formation of a new minimum wage committee, headed by Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe. This move came during an expanded council meeting led by Governor Abdullahi Sule, where state officials deliberated on the new minimum wage and amendments to the Local Government Law.

Commissioner for Information Ibrahim Angbolo shared that, in addition to this decision, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mohammed Iyimoga, will temporarily oversee the Ministry of Agriculture following the resignation of the previous commissioner.

State Attorney General Barrister Labaran Magaji clarified that the new Local Government Law only dissolved the joint accounts committee, leaving other structures untouched. State Head of Service Barrister Abigail Waya also confirmed the establishment of the new minimum wage committee.

Other resolutions included strengthening the local government framework and creating a new Area Administration structure to boost development efforts across localities.
