National Agency For Food And Drugs Administration And Control (NAFDAC) has Alerted the Public On Killer Cough Syrup called NATURCOLD
NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, stated that the cough syrup already caused the death of six children in Cameroon.
“The product is not in the NAFDAC database, importers, distributors, retailers, and consumers are advised to exercise caution and vigilance within the supply chain to avoid the importation, distribution, sale, and use of the substandard (contaminated) syrups,” the statement reads.
“All medical products must be obtained from authorized/licensed suppliers. The products’ authenticity and physical condition should be carefully checked.
Adeyeye said the cough syrup was not in NAFDAC’s database, and advised importers, distributors, retailers, and consumers to exercise caution and vigilance within the supply chain.
She called on importers, distributors, retailers, and consumers to avoid the importation, distribution, sale and consumption of the substandard syrup and enjoined anyone in possession of NATURCOLD to discontinue its sale or use and submit stock to the nearest NAFDAC office.
