NAF Airstrike Kills Top Terrorist Commanders in Borno

Date:

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced on Wednesday that its fighter jets, as part of Operation Hadin Kai, successfully conducted an airstrike on August 16, 2024, in Arina, Southern Tumbuns, Borno State.

The strike led to the elimination of top terrorist commanders Munzir Arika, Sani Dilla, and over 35 others.

NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, stated that the operation was aimed at further weakening the remnants of terrorist groups in the Northeast while ensuring the safety of civilians and troops.

Intelligence reports had earlier detected a migration of terrorists into the area, prompting confirmatory surveillance missions on August 12 and 15, which revealed the presence of numerous terrorists and concealed structures.

Coordinated airstrikes were then launched, resulting in the neutralization of the terrorists and the destruction of key assets, including equipment, vehicles, water vessels, and a suspected medical facility. The operation also significantly degraded the operational capabilities of the remaining terrorist factions in the region.

NAF reiterated its commitment to supporting the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies in their ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in the Northeast.
