Timileyin Ajayi, the 32-year-old man accused of murdering and dismembering female youth corps member Salome Adaidu in Nasarawa State, has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. The dramatic reversal occurred during his hearing at the High Court in Lafia on Monday.
Ajayi initially pleaded guilty before Justice Simon Aboki of the Nasarawa State High Court. However, after consulting with his lawyer, he changed his plea to not guilty, declaring his innocence in the case.
The Nasarawa State Government officially took over the prosecution of the case on March 10, 2025. As the trial began, the prosecution presented four witnesses to testify before the court, outlining the details of the alleged crime.
The case has drawn significant public attention due to the gruesome nature of the crime and the involvement of a youth corps member. Ajayi’s retraction of his guilty plea adds a new layer of complexity to the proceedings, as the court prepares to examine the evidence and testimonies presented.
