A middle-aged man, identified as Alfa Ahmed, has reportedly killed his grandfather and uncle in Ibadan, Oyo State, in what is suspected to be a ritual killing.
The gruesome incident occurred on Sunday evening at the back of a popular market in Apete, Ido Local Government Area of the state.
According to eyewitnesses, Ahmed took advantage of his grandfather’s blindness and his uncle’s ill health to carry out the attack. The late grandfather was visually impaired, and it is alleged that Ahmed intended to use parts of their bodies for a money ritual.
A local resident who spoke to The PUNCH said, “The suspect, known as Alfa Ahmed, lived with his victims, and the attack occurred between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. The area became tense after the murders, and police were alerted immediately.”
The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations were already underway. He assured the public that further updates would be provided as more information becomes available.
This shocking incident has left the Apete community in disbelief as authorities continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
