Madugu makes Ballon d’Or women’s coach shortlist

Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu, has been shortlisted for the 2025 Women’s Team Coach of the Year award at the prestigious Ballon d’Or ceremony.

The 61-year-old earned the nomination after leading Nigeria to a record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title, following a thrilling 3-2 victory over host nation Morocco.

Madugu is in contention for the award alongside Chelsea’s Sonia Bompastor, Brazil’s Arthur Elias, Arsenal’s Renée Slegers, and England’s Sarina Wiegman.

The 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony will be held in Paris, France, on Monday, September 22.
