Liverpool will pay tribute to the late Diogo Jota during their Premier League opener against Bournemouth at Anfield this evening.
The league champions will host members of Jota’s family following the tragic death of the 28-year-old former forward in a car accident in northern Spain last month. His 25-year-old younger brother, Andre Silva, also died in the crash.
As part of a league-wide tribute, a minute’s silence will be observed at all Premier League fixtures this weekend, with players wearing black armbands and stadium screens displaying messages and images honouring both men.
At Anfield, fans will stage a special tribute, unveiling a mosaic in the Kop and the Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand during the silence.
