The House Committee on Commerce, led by Hon. Ahmed Munir, held a public hearing on two landmark bills aimed at boosting entrepreneurship, leadership, and business education in Nigeria.
The proposed legislations focus on the establishment of the Institute of Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Corporate Governance, as well as the Chartered Institute of Business Educators of Nigeria (CIBEN).
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, represented by Rep. Kama Nkemkanma, underscored the importance of addressing youth unemployment through structured skill acquisition and training programs.
He emphasized that strengthening business education would help equip educators to train globally competitive entrepreneurs, fostering economic development.
In his opening remarks, Hon. Munir stressed that these bills align with the 10th House of Representatives legislative agenda, which prioritizes improving the lives of Nigerians through economic empowerment and capacity building.
The hearing reaffirmed the legislature’s commitment to promoting economic growth and creating opportunities for Nigerian youth and entrepreneurs through strategic reforms.
