President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Katsina State for the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, in a London hospital.
Tinubu’s aircraft landed at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport in Katsina at 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday. He was received by top government officials, including serving governors, ministers, and senior aides.
The President is expected to receive the remains of the late Nigerian leader, who served as Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023, cumulatively ruling the country for nine years and eight months.
Buhari’s body is expected to arrive shortly from the United Kingdom and will be transported to his hometown, Daura, for burial. The quiet agrarian community is located about three hours from the state capital.
Dignitaries from across the country and beyond are converging in Daura for the state funeral, as Nigerians continue to mourn the loss of a man many remember for his integrity, discipline, and service to the nation.
