JAMB Disowns Fake Messages on Resit Exam Slip Reprints

Date:

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has discredited circulating messages instructing candidates of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to reprint examination slips for a resit exam.

In a statement issued by its Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB clarified that the messages—though appearing to originate from its official shortcode 66019—were from a spoofed source designed to mislead the public.

“These messages instruct candidates, some of whom have already sat for the resit examination and received their results, to reprint their examination slips for a resit examination,” the statement read. “We categorically state that these messages are not from JAMB.”

Dr. Benjamin affirmed that there are currently no scheduled UTME examinations, and candidates who have successfully completed their resit and received results should disregard the false notifications.

JAMB warned that the messages were fraudulent and intended to create confusion among candidates and the public. The examination board urged all candidates to remain vigilant and rely only on verified communication channels.

The board also clarified its upcoming examination plans, stating that the only pending exercise is the foreign UTME, conducted in nine countries across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Additionally, a mop-up examination will be held exclusively for candidates who missed the main and resit examinations due to biometric verification failures and have been granted waivers.

“Those qualified for the mop-up examination, as specified, will be duly notified once preparations are finalised,” the board assured.

JAMB concluded by advising candidates and stakeholders to ignore deceptive messages and remain attentive to official updates published through its accredited platforms.
