The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that the registration period for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will officially close on March 8, 2025, with no plans for an extension. The registration process, which began on February 3, has already seen over 1.5 million candidates successfully register.
In a statement released on Tuesday, JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, emphasized the importance of adhering to the deadline. “This deadline has been communicated in all advertisements and the official calendar for the 2025 UTME exercise. We wish to inform all prospective candidates that there will be no extension of the registration period,” Benjamin stated.
The Board highlighted the need for prompt action, particularly in light of a recent decline in the number of candidates registering for the examination. “We urge all individuals who wish to participate to register promptly and avoid waiting until the last minute,” the statement read.
JAMB also clarified that its calendar is fixed, with subsequent programs such as examinations, results management, and admissions exercises tightly scheduled. “Extending the registration period would disrupt not only the Board’s plans but also those of our partners, whose operations rely on the completion of our processes,” the statement added.
With over 1.5 million registrations already recorded, JAMB expressed satisfaction with the current figures, which align closely with its projections for the 2025 examination cycle. The Board urged all prospective candidates to complete their registration before the March 8 deadline to avoid missing out on the opportunity.
