Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has reiterated the Nigerian Police Force’s commitment to protecting citizens and upholding accountability in its operations.
Addressing participants at a one-day summit in Abuja, the IGP emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to combat insecurity while ensuring officers and personnel are held accountable for misconduct.
During the summit on police accountability, the IGP encouraged Nigerians to cooperate with the force in its fight against crime, highlighting that effective policing is rooted in public support and innovation.
Security experts at the event stressed the importance of government support for policing reforms and highlighted funding deficiencies as a major challenge to accountability. The summit, organized to improve security strategies, concluded with a call for a more transparent and responsible police system that meets citizens’ expectations.
