After taking part in the 5th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union (AU), President Bola Tinubu left Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
The Nigerian president left Abuja on Saturday to attend a conference with other continental leaders. He is anticipated to return on Monday.
The President stated at the AU meeting on Sunday that Africa cannot achieve integration and development as long as Africans endure suffering and misery.
He emphasized the strength and unity of Africa while categorically rejecting the idea of a fresh race for the continent.
Also on Saturday, Tinubu urged African leaders to uphold the rule of law, respect democracy, and maintain political stability.
He also urged the UN to condemn military coups with a strong stance.
Additionally, Tinubu called for African military institutions and states to respect and acknowledge the necessity of democratic regeneration.
ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government Chairperson and President of Nigeria said coups d’état should be prevented on the continent, particularly in light of issues like the COVID-19 epidemic, insecurity, and climate change.
