Governor Umo Eno Flags-off Construction of Ndiya Street with Drainages in Akpan Andem Market

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on Wednesday flag-off the construction of Ndiya street, Internal roads, drainages and installation of solar lighting in Akpan Andem market in Uyo the state capital.

Speaking at Udo Umanah end of Ndiya street during the flag off exercise, Governor Umo Eno stated that his decision to construct economically viable streets across the state is a symbolic prove of his high regards for entrepreneurs and small scale business operators and re-emphasised that his administration, through the A.R.I.S.E. Agenda is set to rekindle the entrepreneurial spirit of Akwa Ibom people.

He thanked the women and traders for their massive support during the last general election, noting that the construction of Ndiya street and the rehabilitation of Akpanandem Market which seeks to improve the standard of facilities in the market was in fulfillment of his campaign promise on  entrepreneurial development.

He listed Tabernacle road in Uyo, Goreti School road in Ikot Ekpene, Ukpong street in Oron and other business viable roads as major projects earmarked for flag off before June 29.

The Governor announced his approval for the construction of 200 meters internal roads, de-flooding internal drains, provision of water, provision of toilet facilities and provision of solar energy lightings in the market.

The Chief Executive Officer of the construction firm handling the project, HENSEK Integrated Services, Engr. Uwem Okoko, described the project as the first and major project of Governor Umo Eno’s administration, noting that it underscores the entrepreneurial development vision of the A.R.I.S.E. Agenda of his administration.

Reviewing the project, Engr. Okoko said that the 700 meters Ndiya  street road project is scheduled for completion in seventy days, assuring that it would be commissioned to mark the Governors hundred days in office.

He said the project has 20 meters laterite, 200mm stone base thickness, 70mm asphalt thickness, and 1 by 1 meter dual drains.

Earlier in his welcome remark, the Chairman, Uyo Local Government Council, Hon. Uwemedimo Udo, expressed appreciation to the governor for fulfilling his promise to Uyo people by flagging off his first road construction project in Uyo.

He asserted that the governor has given hope to entrepreneurs in the state through the market rehabilitation project and thanked the Governor for appointing an Uyo son, Prince Enobong Uwah, as Secretary to the State Government, saying that the gesture shows his love and confidence for Uyo people.

Also, the member representing Uyo State Constituency, Hon. Uwemedimo Asuquo, thanked Governor Umo Eno for his vision of developing entrepreneurship in the state and making Uyo people a priority in his administration.
