Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has appointed Godwin Omobayo to serve as his new deputy following the impeachment of Philip Shaibu.
Shaibu, who faced impeachment proceedings initiated by the State House of Assembly, was removed from office on Monday following the conclusions of a seven-member investigative panel set up to investigate him.
Just hours after Shaibu’s impeachment, Governor Obaseki named Godwin Omobayo as his replacement. The Edo State Government House in Benin saw a gathering of friends and well-wishers for Omobayo’s inauguration.
Omobayo, born on July 19, 1986, hails from the Akoko Edo Local Government Area.
He holds a B.Eng Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and an MSc in Public Administration from the University of Benin (UNIBEN), preparing for the role of a professional and expert in public administration.
Moreover, Omobayo is a registered member of both the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
