GOVERNOR EMMANUEL INAUGURATES TASK FORCE TO ENFORCE BANS ON SCAVENGERS AND OKADA OPERATIONS

A Multi-Faceted Task Force has been set up by the Akwa Ibom State Governor to ensure enforcement of the ban on scrap Scavenging and Okada operations in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital.

 

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on security matters and special services, Captain Iniubong Ekong in an interview with newsmen said the inauguration of the task force was to ensure that the government’s directives were obeyed to the latter for the safety and security of the people.

 

He further said that the enforcement became necessary to tackle any internal insecurity in the state, noting that most disgusting crimes such as rape, burglary, stealing from investigations were being perpetrated by criminals on motorcycles.

 

While noting that no one is exempted from the ban especially the officers that ride Okada in the banned zones, Ekong disclosed that Governor Udom Emmanuel has approved allowance and welfare packages for them.
