Flying Eagles to Play Colombia in World Cup Preparatory Match

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will trade tackles with Colombia Under 20 national team on Tuesday 16th May, in preparation for the 2023 FIFA World Cup group opener against Dominican Republic.

Nigeria is drawn in group D with Dominican Republic, Italy and Brazil where only the two top teams progress to the knock-out stage. 

Meanwhile, the 2015 African champions will take on a local football club in Argentina before next Tuesday’s international friendly game against Colombia.

Colombia have made 11 appearances since 1985 at the FIFA U20 world cup with their best result being a Third Best team in 2003. They are also three times South American Youth champions.

Nigeria on their part have won the African U20 Championships seven times and have finished in second place twice,  in 1989 and 2005.
